Description: SM eVentures Inc., a unit of the group's investment arm SM Investments Corp., will spend an initial 220 million Philippine Pesos (US$4.2 million) to build the business.
The 100% Filipino-owned SM eVentures will offer inbound and outbound customer care, e-commerce customer support and telemarketing. Interaction with customers will be maintained via phone, web callback, chat, e-mail and fax.
The operation of a call center signals the continued diversification of the SM Group's businesses. Two weeks ago, SMIC bought a 6.2% stake in San Miguel Corp. (SMC) for PhP9.6 billion.
SM said it wants to take advantage of the wide distribution network of SMC.
SM also operates a nationwide mall chain and has interests in banking through Banco de Oro and China Banking Corp., property development through Highlands Prime, Inc. and gaming through Belle Corp.
